The Baudin’s Black Cockatoo Pin

The Baudin’s Black Cockatoo is a critically endangered relative of the Carnaby’s Cockatoo. They can be distinguished by their longer upper mandible and shorter “whicha whicha” calls.

These magnificent birds inhabit the Southern eucalypt forests, primarily found in the Jarrah, Marri, and Karri regions. Baudin’s Cockatoos are skilled at locating wood-eating larvae hidden beneath the bark of trees. They rely on the health of our forests and need large hollows in trees that are over 200 years old in order to raise their young.

We are so grateful for your support in helping Carnaby’s! Dean from Carnaby’s Crusaders works tirelessly to protect these precious birds. Every pin sale contributes to this wonderful charity. Thank you for making a difference!

Carnaby’s Crusaders LTD

Carnaby’s Crusaders LTD is a Registered Not For Profit Charity. They are an enterprise dedicated to supporting the recovery, breeding and preservation of habitat that supports Western Australia’s native Black Cockatoo species. Their goal is to ensure the survival and promote awareness around the required preservation of natural habitat in order to support our Native Black Cockatoo’s.

While they can boost numbers by providing Artificial Breeding Tubes on suitable sites, this is not a long-term solution to the viability of the species if we do not preserve and provide more natural feeding & breeding habitat for them.
