The Splendid Fairywren

The Splendid Fairywren is a charming little bird found in various parts of Australia, including the beautiful Shark Bay and southern Western Australia, the Flinders Ranges in South Australia and central Northern Territory. During the breeding season, male fairywrens are especially striking, showcasing shades of violet-blue, pale blue and black feathers.

In the non-breeding season, both males and females adopt a more subdued brown coloration, although their long tail feathers still display a subtle hint of dull blue. These delightful birds prefer to inhabit arid and semi-arid areas, so be on the lookout for them flitting around in the shrubs and woodlands.
